Below is all the information you will need before your upcoming appointment with your psychologist.
Standard appointments run for 50 minutes. Appointments are available Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm. You do not need a referral from a Doctor to make an appointment. However, if you would like to claim Medicare rebates from your initial appointment, please ensure you see your GP prior to the first appointment to obtain a referral letter and Mental Health Care Plan.
The fees for a standard treatment session (50 minutes) range from $230-290. Fees are payable at the end of each session via online processing unless alternative arrangements have been made.
Under the Medicare Better Access Scheme, individuals receiving psychological treatment are eligible for a rebate ranging from $96.65 to $141.85 per session for up to 10 sessions each calendar year. In order to obtain these rebates, a Mental Health Care Plan (form 2710) is needed from your G.P.
You are liable for the full fee if your appointment is cancelled later than 9am the (business) day prior to your appointment, except in the event of illness or accident. (Note: if you have an appointment on a Monday, this means we need to hear from you by 9am the Friday before).
