Melissa is a Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, and is a member of the Australian Psychologist Society. Melissa holds a Master of Psychology (Clinical), a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology)(Honours), a Graduate Diploma of Psychology, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy).
With experience supporting individuals across the lifespan, Melissa brings warmth and compassion to help clients create the life they choose. She seeks to understand clients for their own experiences, enjoys connecting with people of all backgrounds, and aims to create a safe space to work collaboratively.
Melissa is experienced in the assessment and treatment of various areas, including supporting with anxiety, depression, self-worth and identity issues, emotion regulation difficulties, neurodiversity, adjustment difficulties, grief and loss, and living with physical or sensory health conditions. Melissa is also passionate about perinatal mental health, parenting, and adolescent issues.
Melissa has experience in public and private sectors, with hospital, community, and clinic-based past roles. With a previous career in Occupational Therapy, Melissa understands that everyone has their own pathway, that everyone needs their own version of support, and that choices and change can be difficult but rewarding. As a psychologist, Melissa tailors therapeutic interventions to suit each person, utilising an evidence-based and flexible approach. Founded in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), this approach is also informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), attachment-based family therapy, Circle of Security principles, Family Systems Theory (IFS) and Mindfulness-based interventions as appropriate. Melissa is dedicated to ongoing learning and professional training, bringing curiosity and open-mindedness to her work.
