Dr Laura Robinson

Clinical Psychologist

DPsych(Clin), MCFT, Grad Dip Sci(Psych), BSc, MAPS

Laura is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. Laura holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, a Masters in Couple and Family Therapy, a Graduate Diploma in Science (Psychology) and a Bachelor Degree in Science. She is a Board-approved supervisor.

Laura considers it a privilege to collaborate with children, adults and families who are experiencing a range of emotional, behavioural and relationship problems to harness their own strengths and optimise well-being. She values empathy, respect, authenticity, humour, as well as cultural sensitivity and inclusivity in her therapeutic practice.

Laura has worked extensively in the public and private health systems for over twenty years, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She uses an integrative, evidence-based approach to empowering her clients to make meaningful, sustained change in their own lives. This approach draws on principles from Attachment Theory, Parent Management Training, Family Systems Theory (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Laura is also a trained Family Therapist, certified Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapist, Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) Facilitator and a Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapist.

Laura is committed to her own ongoing professional development to ensure that therapies offered are based on current research and best-practice guidelines. When she is not doing this, you can find her raising her own family and doing her best to challenge herself (including having recently conquered her phobia of spiders).
