Amanda is a fully registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and is an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society. She holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology from Macquarie University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Australian College of Applied Psychology. Previously she was a Registered Nurse.
As an early career RN, Amanda worked in acute and chronic healthcare spaces in major hospitals and public health settings, often dealing with broader family systems as they came to terms with a range of impacts related to poor health. Amanda then chose to pursue a career as a psychologist competing further tertiary studies and qualifications whilst raising her family.
Amanda now has over twenty years’ experience working with adults struggling with a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and stress. She uses an individualised integrative approach, utilising cognitive behavioural therapy, Mindfulness based acceptance and commitment therapy, schema therapy and Dialectic Behaviour therapy.
Amanda has a particular interest in the impact of stress physiologically and psychologically upon her clients sense of wellbeing, relationships and physical health. She has a very strong focus upon brain health and resilience. An empathic clinician, Amanda understands that developing a warm and engaged therapeutic relationship is key to positive health outcomes. She approaches therapy with authenticity and compassion.
